Who is GippsDairy?
GippsDairy is an independent not-for-profit organisation governed by a board of 10 directors. Six are Gippsland dairyfarmers, two have strong connections to the dairy community and two have specialist skills. GippsDairy is the regional service arm of Dairy Australia. It was established in 1996 under the Dairy Research and Development Corporation’s (now Dairy Australia) regional development program. Its role is to invest in research, development and extension projects that bring benefit to the dairy industry of Gippsland. It receives a budget of over $500,000 per year from Dairy Australia that consists of milk levy money as well as federal funding.
Who is Dairy Australia?
Dairy Australia is the national service body for the dairy industry. Funded by farmer levies, with matching research and development funds from the Australian Government, Dairy Australia’s role is to boost the long-term sustainability and viability of local farm businesses and the regional communities that depend on the dairy industry.
